WHAT DO THE MAFIA, THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, DRUG RUNNING AND POSSIBLE MURDER HAVE IN COMMON? A LOT! New Book Exposes On-Going Governmental Corruption
In the early 1990s, investigative journalist Danny Casolaro was found dead in his hotel room, his wrist slashed multiple times. Suicide? Murder? Both were equally possible, because he had uncovered a web of corruption involving businesses, governmental agencies and the Mob. After his death, author Cheri Seymour took up his cause, resulting in the new book The Last Circle, a true-life tour-de-force through the labyrinth of institutionalized crime in the United States during the past 28 years.
Following Casolaro’s leads, Seymour discovered “The Company”, an large organization with many former military and police officer members that imported billions of dollars worth of narcotics from Latin America, and who were also involved in gunrunning and mercenary operations.
That wasn’t all. Further researcher led to the criminal labyrinth of MCA Corporation, the Gambino crime family’s ties to the Department of Justice (DOJ), arms deals with the Nicaraguan Contras, CIA and NSC drug operations, government spy networks, and the theft of the PROMIS software used for international money laundering by high officials in the Reagan presidential administration of the 1980s.
Through law enforcement investigators ranging from the FBI to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Seymour learned that the official head of the Octopus resided in the U.S. DOJ, supported by an out-of-control presidential administration that would go to any lengths in its paranoid obsession to stop the spread of Communism in the 1980s. If this meant destroying the principles of the Constitution, working with the Mafia, and exploiting Native American nations, so be it.
Money was also a big motivator for criminal behavior. Members of the Gambino and Buffalino crime families, in collusion with the DOJ and even the U.S. Attorney General, arranged the shutdown of an FBI investigation of MCA Corporation in order to facilitate the largest corporate sale in U.S. history to the Japanese.
Casolaro dubbed this cabal of corrupt government departments and the Mob The Octopus, a murky being with tentacles reaching into every corner. It appears that The Octopus is firmly entrenched in the halls of power, and no amount of lawsuits will get rid of it. And so the purpose of The Last Circle is to provide knowledge - the only counter action available to ordinary Americans to expose and fight this iniquity, and to resist becoming an integral part of it.
